Goldleaf
Technologies Partners with Intelligent Banking Solutions
Alliance will enable IBS customers
to make quicker collections
BRENTWOOD, TN., May 26, 2003 –Goldleaf Technologies
Inc., a leading provider of ACH and Web site solutions to community
and regional financial institutions, has partnered with Intelligent
Banking Solutions Inc. (IBS), New London, NH, to provide an ACH-enabled
collection service allowing IBS system users to accept promises
to pay as checks over the telephone.
“
We formed a partnership with Goldleaf Technologies because they
have a product that we thought our client base and our prospects
would be interested in, which is offering collection of checks
by phone,” said Charlie Bowden, senior vice president for
sales and marketing at IBS.
IBS’s software is geared to collections departments and
financial institutions. Bowden explained that IBS’s customers
spend a lot time calling delinquent customers requesting they
make payments. Often times, the delinquent customer has money
in the bank at the time of the call; but by time the check arrives,
the funds have been allocated elsewhere.
“
The software allows IBS customer banks to collect past-due credit
accounts more efficiently by enabling the collection officer
to initiate an ACH transaction upon the customer’s authorization.
The call is recorded, as required by ACH rules, in case the customer
later disputes the transaction,” said David Peterson, executive
vice president of Goldleaf Technologies.
This provides several advantages, according to Peterson. ACH
transactions usually post at the end of the business day. So
the bank benefits from the reduced float. Additionally, the collection
officer ensures there are sufficient funds in the account when
the payment is authorized. So there’s little chance of
insufficient funds being in the customer’s account once
the ACH transaction is authorized. Another advantage is that
ACH transactions tend to take precedence over check transactions.
Therefore, a customer with $500 in his account who authorizes
a $500 ACH payment and has a $500 check come in for payment the
same day will have the ACH payment approved and the check returned,
said Peterson.
“
We are very optimistic about implementing this service,” said
Bowden. “Some customers have told us that this functionality
could reduce their transactions by 50 or 60 a day. Goldleaf also
was able to implement this is a way to let the IBS customer receive
both the DDA debit and loan credit in the automated ACH file,
thus totally eliminating the need for any manual posting of this
dual transaction. This is an even bigger time-saver for already
busy collections departments.”
IBS and Goldleaf Technologies have co-branded a Web site, that
once live, will allow IBS’s customers to access the site
and enter the check information to complete the transaction.
“
We view partnerships as a way to grow our company. Our partnership
with Goldleaf Technologies will provide a service that will help
make delinquencies go away significantly faster,” said
Bowden.
